There are three primary chords for any song that you play. If a song is played in the key of C, then the three primary chords would be C chord, F chord and G chord.
Primary chords are Major Chords. So, if your song were to play in the key of C, the chords of the C major scale (C, D, E, F, G, A, B) would have C Chord, F Chord and G Chord being the major chords.

As you have learned that the Major Scale in the key of C are:
C, D, E, F, G, A, B The chord for the note C will be C-E-G (i.e. Root-4HS-3HS), which is a Major Chord. The chord for note D will be D-F-A (i.e. Root-3HS-4HS), which is a minor chord. Next,the chord for note E will be E-G-B (i.e. Root-3HS-4HS), which is a minor chord. The chord for note F will be F-A-C (i.e. Root-4HS-3HS), which is a Major Chord. The chord for note G will be G-B-D (i.e. Root-4HS-3HS), which is a Major Chord. The chord for note A will be A-C-E (i.e. Root-3HS-4HS), which is a minor chord. Lastly, the chord for note B will be B-D-F (i.e. Root-3HS-3HS), which is a diminished chord. |
