1. IntroductionIn this lesson you will play "Brother John". You are going to follow these three steps:
- Step 1: You will play the right hand melody line.
- Step 2: You will play the left hand chords.
- Step 3: You will play the right hand melody and left hand chords together.
2. Step 1: Playing the Right Hand MelodyBelow is an animation of the right hand melody for "Brother John". Go ahead and try to play this with your right hand. You will notice green numbers above the right hand melody notes. These numbers are suggestions on which fingers to use when playing "Brother John". You can read the list below to find out what number corresponds with which finger.
1 -> Thumb
2 -> Index Finger
3 -> Middle Finger
4 -> Ring Finger
5 -> Pinky
3. Step 2: Playing the Left Hand ChordsBelow is an animation of the left hand chords for "Brother John". Go ahead and try to play this with your left hand. Notice that the left hand chord notes are also marked with green numbers for fingering suggestions.
4. Step 3: Playing Both Hands TogetherBelow is an animation of the right hand melody and left hand chords of "Brother John" played together. Go ahead and try to play this with both hands.
